Tips on completing the B.C. health care bursary application and nurses education bursary application

We must have complete financial information to determine your financial need. The more information you provide, the better your chances of receiving funding. If the bursary application form does not have enough space for you to explain your financial situation, please include a separate sheet with further details.

Note for private school students applying for the nurses education bursary: Your tuition will be assessed at the average tuition fee for your study program across B.C. to ensure a more equal distribution of awards between public and private institutions.

Are you also applying for student loans?

Normally the information you provided in your StudentAid BC application form will be enough for us to determine your need for a health care or nurses education bursary – as long as you submit your application by the bursary deadline date.

If you have a student loan from another province, you must provide the notice of assessment showing your costs, resources and award amount so we can process your application.

If you are not applying for a student loan – why not?

When we assess B.C. health care and nurses education bursary applications, we use the financial information section to determine if you will have the resources to complete your program of study (with the help of the financial aid you are applying for). This is why we ask you to list all financial resources in the Income and Asset section.

For example: If you state that you are living independently, that you do not intend to apply for student loans, and that you have no or very low income, we need to know how you will pay for rent, food, transportation, tuition, books etc. If you don’t fully disclose your income and financial status, we will not have enough information to process your application.

If you do not have enough financial resources to attend post-secondary school, and have not applied for student loan funding, you can do so in the apply for a student loan section.
