If you are under 19 you need a guarantor
If you are under 19, you must have a guarantor complete and sign the guarantor section of your master B.C. student loan agreement before you take the agreement to a designated Canada Post outlet for processing.
Your guarantor does not have to be with you at the Canada Post outlet to sign the document in person. It can be signed beforehand.
By signing the master B.C. student loan agreement, your guarantor says he or she understands and agrees to the terms and conditions, and agrees to be personally responsible for your legal obligations if you default on your loan repayment.
A guarantor can be the parent, step-parent, legal guardian or sponsor who signed your StudentAid BC application. Anyone else acting as your guarantor must be 19 or older, employed full-time and a resident of B.C.
