Applying to schools
Once you have a plan in place for your education, you can start applying to post-secondary institutions. The process of applying differs depending on whether the institutions you are applying to are public or private, and on where they are located.
If you are planning to take out student loans, an important step to take before applying to the school of your choice is to ensure that school is designated for that purpose by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development. All public universities, university-colleges, colleges and institutes in B.C. are designated. However, not all private training schools or out-of-province schools have been designated. To see a list of designated schools, click here.
Once you are ready to apply to a public institution in British Columbia, you can do so online through the Post-secondary Application Service of British Columbia, which is part of BCcampus. You can apply to multiple public B.C. institutions through this system.
