Types of Funding Available Through StudentAid BC


Student loans - There are three types of loans available to students in B.C.: British Columbia student loans, Canada student loans and part-time Canada student loans.

Grants and Bursaries - Several grants and bursaries are available to B.C. students and are awarded based on financial need and other criteria. Neither grants nor bursaries have to be repaid.

Scholarships - Several scholarships are available to B.C. students and are awarded based on various criteria, such as academic achievement or community involvement. Scholarships do not have to be repaid.

Programs for students with permanent disabilities - If you have a documented permanent disability and will be studying at a designated post-secondary institution, there are programs available that you may be eligible for.

Programs for students with dependants- If you have dependants and will be studying at a designated post-secondary institution, there are programs available that you may be eligible for.

Programs for first-time students - If you are a student who is attending post-secondary education for the first time, there are programs you may be eligible for.

Programs for part-time students - If you are studying part-time at a designated post-secondary institution, there are programs you may be eligible for.

Tuition credit – All Youth Community Action tuition credits have now expired. If you paid for tuition using credits before they expired, there’s still time to submit a reimbursement form to StudentAid BC.

Repayment assistance - Assistance is available for students who are no longer in school and are having trouble repaying their loans.
