Tourism researchers take TRIP to rural B.C.
How does a rural community develop a tourist industry? Researchers at Malaspina University-College are finding out through TRIP, short for the Tourism Research Innovation Project.
The project is looking at the rural communities in British Columbia that are succeeding in building tourism in their areas. By documenting case studies of these communities and telling others what strategies were used, new doors will be opened for economic growth in rural B.C.
TRIP seeks to develop a cluster of knowledge on rural tourism that will help public and private industry leaders make policy decisions. The project also aims to bring together students, community leaders and others from across the province to share their knowledge.
With an ambitious agenda and the goal of opening B.C. to the tourist industry, TRIP is helping to bring the world to British Columbia, and to show British Columbia to the world.
