Centre attracts best brains to B.C.

Some of the world’s best neuroscientists can be found in Vancouver, drawn by the Brain Research Centre at the University of British Columbia’s hospital.

Established as a research facility in 1999, the centre gives researchers world-class facilities to study our grey matter to find ways of treating its diseases. The centre is run by a team of over 50 faculty members and more than 100 grad students and postdoctoral researchers.

Projects at the Brain Research Centre start with a research question to do with disease or injury to the brain, and end with the delivery of treatment to patients. The team works on such diseases as Parkinson’s, stroke, depression and Alzheimer’s. The researchers have produced their new therapies through their new and successful biotechnology companies.

The Brain Research Centre promises great things for B.C., and has delivered on them. Our most important organ is in good hands.
