Kelemen’s Kreations Inc. of Burns Lake offers an innovative solution to the physically  stressful task of shovelling – a shock-absorbing handle.
According to WorkSafe BC, the number of repetitive motion injuries from using ordinary shovels is staggering. President Mike Kelemen’s Impact Eliminator uses a patented rubber disc design to cushion heavy contact, allowing up to 5/8 inch of vertical travel to protect the person shovelling.
The handle, which can be attached to any long-handled tool, can be used for landscaping, roofing, gardening and tree planting, and can also be adapted for mining, forestry and snow removal. It can be attached to a variety of hand tools for use at work and at home.
 Kelemen’s Kreations was incorporated in 2006 and received the Northern B.C. Business and Technology Technology Start-Up of the Year award in 2007. Kelemen worked closely with the Innovation Resource Centre’s director of business enhancement throughout the startup process, and retail sales reached $1 million in the first year, extending the market across B.C.’s northern regions, as well as throughout Canada. Throughout 2007, Kelemen’s Kreations is focusing on global marketing for the Impact Eliminator.
