Accreditation

Institutions registered with the Private Career Training Institutions Agency (PCTIA) have the option of undergoing a quality review process to obtain PCTIA accreditation. An accredited institution can be designated under StudentAid BC, so that its students may benefit from student financial assistance.

The PCTIA is responsible for establishing standards of educational and operational quality that must be met by institutions seeking to achieve or maintain accreditation. Standards are set by the PCTIA with input from the Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development.

A list of accredited institutions is maintained by the PCTIA, and is available on its website.

Institutions Accredited with the Private Post-secondary Education Commission

The Private Career Training Institutions Act came into force on November 22, 2004. All institutions accredited with PPSEC at that time continue to be accredited with the PCTIA until their current accreditation expires. At that time, institutions wishing to be accredited will need to apply to the PCTIA. Institutions in the process of becoming accredited when the Private Career Training Institutions Act came into force should contact the PCTIA directly to discuss the completion of their accreditation.
