Colleges and University Colleges Branch


The Colleges and University Colleges Branch provides direction, leadership and support to 12 public colleges, three public university colleges and the Knowledge Network.

Other key areas of responsibility:

  • The branch also provides leadership and support for various program areas in the public post-secondary education system, including:
    • Applied science/ engineering
    • Business/ commerce/ applied business technology
    • Computer science and information technology
    • Environmental management
    • Human services
    • Kinesiology/ physical education/ recreation
    • Public administration
    • Renewable & non-renewable resources
    • Tourism and hospitality
    • Transportation
  • In addition, the branch has the lead for the ministry on:
    • BCcampus
    • Co-operative education issues
    • Education and training consortia for three economic sectors:
      aerospace, oil and gas, and tourism and hospitality
    • Educational technology
    • Industry training issues
    • K-12 transitions (from high school to post-secondary education)
    • New mandate applied degrees
    • Prior learning assessment and recognition
    • The Northern Team project
