October 30, 2009 –BC has passed legislation that provides skilled trades and professions with full labour mobility, supporting an historic national Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT) and improving opportunities for workers and employers. Bill 11, The Labour Mobility Act has received Royal Assent and the act is now in force.
The Labour Mobility Act allows people certified in any Canadian jurisdiction to be recognized and able to practice their profession in any other Canadian jurisdiction, and is similar to legislation being enacted or revised in other provinces.

Chapter 7 (Labour Mobility)
Changes to Chapter 7 (Labour Mobility) of the Agreement on Internal Trade have now been ratified by all provinces and territories. These changes are being implemented to ensure full labour mobility to British Columbia for certified professionals in regulated occupations and trades moving to B.C. from other Canadian jurisdictions.
B.C’s Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation is leading the implementation of the revised labour mobility chapter of the AIT.
