Workplace Skills Training (WST)

This program for the mentally challenged, head injured, and mentally ill provides training to maximize the vocational potential of students. The program teaches skills necessary for employment. Specific job skills offered are flexible, depending on the interests of the students.

Students complete 1-3 job placements lasting 10-15 days each and some last throughout the program. They may or may not be supervised, depending on each situation.

Graduates receive job support from group home staff and from the Provincial Networking Group.

This program provides basic education that is fundamental to an individual's participation in society. Students learn life skills such as:

  • problem solving
  • cooperation
  • punctuality

Community Interest Courses

Short-term community interest courses are designed for students who wish to access an adult learning environment but are unable to take part in regular ASE courses. These courses help improve student literacy levels by teaching basic skills in numeracy, literacy, and functional academics.

Community interest courses include: Literacy, Personal Profile and Career Planning, Managing Your Money, Basic Computer Skills, Survival Math, Interacting with Others at Work, etc.
