Do you want to improve your education to build a better future for yourself and your family?

Do you need to finish your high school diploma, upgrade or take extra high school courses to find a better job, or move on to post-secondary education and training?

If so, adult upgrading programs are designed to help.

Adult upgrading courses can lead to a British Columbia Adult Graduation Diploma (also known as the Adult Dogwood), and to prerequisites for post-secondary education or employment training.

LearnNowBC is a provincial portal that has a complete list of online courses offered by the BC public distributed learning schools.

You can take these courses:

  2. At school district continuing education centres

Adult Basic Education (ABE) Student Enrolment Summary

The following reports the percentage of ABE enrolment totals in 2013/14 for the public secondary and post-secondary education systems in B.C. The report compares the summary data between the two systems and shows a 10-year trend. This summary data is generated from the Ministry of Advanced Education's Post-Secondary Central Data Warehouse and Ministry of Education's Education Data Warehouse.

Adult Upgrading Grant

If you are eligible, we may be able to help you pay for books, supplies and other costs through the Adult Upgrading Grant. Please refer to the attached document for the list of Frequently Asked Questions about the Adult Upgrading Grant.

Adult Upgrading Grant application

This program is available if you are attending a B.C. public post-secondary institution that has been approved to administer Adult Upgrading Grant funding. Please download and complete the application form that is available on this page. Once complete, you are required to print, sign and submit the application form to the Financial Aid Office at your post-secondary institution.
